(01)Setup guide

Four steps to your first task.

Most of it happens in the installer. The one thing only you can do is add your AI key.

See the first-run setup in the preview
  1. Step 01

    Download and install

Run the Orbit installer for Windows. It sets up the desktop app and its local engine.

  2. Step 02

    Connect Chrome

The installer connects the Orbit extension to Chrome, so Orbit can work in your real tabs.

  3. Step 03

    Add an AI key

Paste a free Groq API key in Settings, under AI model, to switch on full AI reasoning.

Create a free key at console.groq.com
  4. Step 04

    Give Orbit a task

Describe what you need. Orbit plans it, runs it and shows you every step on the way.

Good to know before you start.

  • Do I need an API key?

For AI tasks, yes. Orbit works with a free Groq API key that you add in Settings. Without a key, Orbit runs in a limited offline test mode that can execute simple scripted workflows, but it does not do any AI reasoning.

  • Will Orbit submit forms or send messages on its own?

No. Before anything irreversible or consequential, like sending a message, submitting a form or changing files, Orbit stops and shows you exactly what it is about to do. Nothing happens until you confirm.

  • Can Orbit get past CAPTCHAs?

No. Orbit does not solve CAPTCHAs. When a page shows one, Orbit pauses the task and asks you to complete it in Chrome yourself.

  • Where does Orbit save files?

In your workspace, which is Documents\Orbit unless you choose another folder in Settings. Orbit creates new files rather than overwriting the ones you already have.

  • Can I undo what Orbit did?

Orbit's file operations can be undone from the task itself or from Settings, under Workspace. Actions on websites, like a submitted form, cannot be taken back, which is exactly why Orbit asks first.

  • How do browser tasks work?

Navigating sites, clicking and filling in forms happen in your own Chrome tabs through the Orbit extension, which the installer connects for you.

  • What do I need for video editing?

Orbit edits video with FFmpeg. You can install it from Settings, under Video, whenever you first need it.
